Nita, the author and artist of this book started painting batiks when the word "batik" appeared in her meditation. Initially apprehensive about calling herself an artist, she plucked her courage and self-published this book. Inspired by creative women who came before us, she made the decision to believe in her art, in what she has to offer to world, she has since found peace and freedom through and with this ancient art form as a meditation instrument.
Martha Graham once said “there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique.” And if we block this expression, it will be forever lost. So it is not your business to judge whether you are good enough. But it is your vocation to keep the channel open.
This book is a personal sharing of the beginning, and the deepening of Nita’s journey as artist, human being and spiritual being.

I liked this book. I enjoyed studying the artwork and really like how the artist explained the meaning behind each work of art, going one at a time so that you don't have to keep flipping back and forth to match the right painting to the description. The artist expressed some doubt at points about her own artistic talent, but I find her work lovely. I had some favorites and some pieces I liked less, but all in all, a lovely collection of artwork.Product details

Although the preview was too short to really evaluate, I purchased this largely to see how the author integrated art and so-called "journaling." In reality, there is little "journal" here, feeling instead like an exhibit of 20 batik paintings with an artist's comment about each. True, the batiks are very lovely, and I'm all for supporting worldwide art efforts, but the batiks would look better in print than on an e-reader.
I'm thinking that a series of greeting cards might have been a better venue than this artist's work than an e-book, and certainly there is not enough content for a conventional book. Although I do like what is here, I think the title is misleading and the asking price too high. Even if the price was cut by half, it might still be too much.
